Johan Tijssen is founder of HempBLOCK International, based in Australia and USA.
I have 15 years of experience in Hempcrete construction. I work closely with our global network of HempBLOCK installer trainers, as well as our quoting, architectural, design, logistical, technical, engineering, publicity and client services teams.
Hemp and the blocks we make are the building material of the future. It is safe, long-lasting, and carbon-negative. We specialize in fast-to-erect walling systems that perform well and save our clients 70% in heating and cooling costs. What was a win for your company in the past year?
Amongst multiple builds in construction, architectural and engineering phases, a global first outstanding achievement last year was to prove that our HempBLOCK weight bearing system is resistant to more than 3 hours of fire.
What challenges does the hemp building industry face that it must overcome?
Local manufacturing of our HempBLOCKs is something we are actively working on. We are also working on legislation of the system in certain states.
