Hemp-Lime Finalist in 'Coolest Thing in Colorado' Contest
Hemp-Lime insulation is among the Top 10 finalists in the “Coolest Thing Made in Colorado” contest, and hemp needs YOUR VOTE online to get the recognition it deserves.
The Colorado Chamber of Contest announced that hemp-lime (hempcrete) from the Front-Range based Hemp Building Company made the list of finalists. A winner will be chosen October 20 at an award lunch in Denver.
“Colorado manufacturers are job creators and innovators, shaping our state’s economy and communities,” Colorado Chamber president and CEO Loren Furman said in a news release. “These finalists underscore the wide variety of dynamic Colorado-made products across the state.”
The finalists were chosen by an independent panel, but online voting for a “people’s choice” award opens Thursday. Other competitors include a space ejector seat, beer darts, hand-made skis and a prosthetic finger, among others.

The Hemp Building Company was founded in 2020 by Phelan Dalton and partner Daniel Scowcroft. The company built two hemp structures this summer in the mountains of Colorado.
The contest is a great way to shine the spotlight on hempcrete building materials, Dalton told Hemp Build Magazine, just as hemp-lime has been approved for US building codes by the International Code Council.
Even if you don’t live in Colorado, please VOTE HERE for hemp-lime, which is easily the coolest among the finalists.
