Hemp Building Trade Association Announces Board Elections

US Hemp Building Association is a membership organization dedicated to support and advocate for hemp building professionals, projects, and materials in the United States.

USHBA is a 501 (c) 6 trade organization organized by a 9-member Volunteer Board of Directors who traditionally serve for 2-year terms. Board members serve on USHBA and our sister 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, the US Hemp Building Foundation.

The USHBA seeks candidates for the board of directors. The open positions are:

President (2 year term)
Vice President (1 year term)
Secretary (1 year term)
Treasurer (1 year term)
Board Member at Large (2 year term)
Board Member at Large (2 year term)

This election, the vice president and secretary position are for only 1 year terms. We are staggering the terms of the executive board to bring institutional memory and stability to new board members when elected in the future.

What are Members-at-Large? The at-large members bring their skills and passions to the board and become a “farm team” to take on executive roles as terms expire.
Must I be an active member of USHBA to run in the election? Yes, you must be an active member to vote and to run for the board.
What special skills do I need? All Board of Directors members donate their time and expertise to one or more committees, depending on preferences and talent.
What are the requirements? All Board of Directors must be paid Members and be up to date with membership.
Do I get paid? No. All Board members serve as volunteers.
What is the time commitment? The time commitment is one meeting per month and up to two hours per week.
What are the volunteer committees a board member can work on?
What are Regional Leaders? Apart from the Board, USHBA supports 10 Regional Leaders who hold events and network with regional colleagues to build a thriving American hemp building industry.

The deadline for candidate nominations is November 15. Voting by active members will take place between December 1-15, with results announced on December 15. The new board members will be soaring in at the board’s first meeting, January 8, 2025.
