The most interesting factor about hempcrete is that buildings and structures can become more sustainable and resilient as a result of using innovative hemp based components.

What is your position at Gro Enterprises and what do you do? Founder and Visionary for industrial hemp and medical cannabis related services and products. I identify opportunities for the company’s growth in the industrial hemp and medical cannabis sector. Gro Enterprises is a public benefit corporation serving Louisiana and Mississippi.

What most interests you about hemp and hemp building, and why? The most interesting factor is that buildings and structures can become more sustainable and resilient as a result of using innovative hemp based components.

What was a win for your company in the past year?

We are launching this new venture in the first quarter of 2022. But the most exciting thing that happened in 2021 was the beginning of the formation of a local hemp supply chain in Louisiana and Mississippi.

What is something about hemp building/construction/processing you didn’t know a year ago? The complexity of the different genetics used in producing the desired hurd for making Hempcrete.

What challenges does the hemp building industry face that it must overcome in the next five years?

We need more developments in underserved communities of color. To show the versatility of the products and introduce these communities to the industry.
