Tim White: Texas Healthy Homes

Tim White, president of Texas Healthy Homes, is a pioneering leader in the sustainable building industry & the USHBA’s winner for New Hempcrete Home for 2022-23 build season with their Hondo, Texas project.

We provide consulting, education programs, and presentations on how to incorporate sustainable building materials like Hempcrete, Lime and Clay plasters into projects and sustainable products.

What most interests you about hemp and hemp building, and why?

Using hempcrete in a monolithic wall system for exterior and interior partition walls has allowed us to eliminate carbon heavy materials like drywall & toxic VOC’s found in paint and caulk. This reduces the number of subcontractors & the amount of materials from big box hardware stores.

What was a win for your company in the past year?

Expanding our influence of natural building outside of Texas & across the US.

What is something about hemp building/construction/processing you didn’t know a year ago?

That the lack of knowledge around the proper application of historic lime plasters is a major problem in North America.

What challenges does the hemp building industry face that it must overcome in the next five years?

We need to increase the focus on supporting our farmers and educating the masses about US grown & processed hemp-based products that are tested, rated & readily available in the marketplace.
