At least three historic hempcrete homes are being built in the United States this year with the support of instructors and other students enrolled in an online hemp building class series. Next month, a new cohort of hemp builders and aspiring homeowners will learn how to save time and connect with proven resources as a new series of classes rolls out from Hemp Build School Masterminds.

The online and in-real-life hemp-building program has been curated through a collaboration of some of the most successful and experienced US hemp builders including instructors: Cameron McIntosh (Americhanvre); Tim White (Texas Healthy Homes); Ray Kaderli (Hemp Build Network) and Colorado Engineer Mark Benjamin (Crown Jade Design & Engineering).

At least three members of the school’s first cohort are success stories – well on their way to building their first hempcrete structure.

“This is what I was looking for when I joined this class. To me, it’s worth a ton,” said Allan Dyer, who’s building a prototype cabin on his rural Texas land in preparation for a full-size hempcrete home.

“You go to conference after conference and you hear the same thing over and over again. But these tricks that you hear [from instructors] I’m observing like a sponge, trying to absorb that information,” he added.

The 6-month courses, offered through the HempbuildMag.com Community, give pros and homeowners access to and expertise from top hemp-building professionals in an interactive setting with short videos and twice-monthly mastermind meetings.

Participants can learn best practices and avoid pitfalls when building with hemp-lime, a new material that has only this year been approved for the US building codes.

“My legacy to leave to my children is to build a hemp house here in Puerto Rico,” said participant Adelaida Nunez-Vasquez. “Not only does it bring a healthy environment and sustainability indoors, but also it brings sustainability and strength outdoors to the environment.”

Hemp Build School instructor Tim White of Texas Healthy Homes speaks to workshop participants. Pro class members receive live workshop training with the online classes.

In March, the first cohort of pro students will learn about hemp-lime firsthand by attending homebuilding workshops with instructor Tim White of Texas Healthy Homes on the site of a new hempcrete house being built in Menard, TX.

Other class members can choose to get training in the Ereasy spray application system at April workshops in Pennsylvania with Americhanvre’s Cameron McIntosh.

“The instructors are invested in the success of the student projects, which will make history by bringing a new crop of hempcrete houses to the United States,” said HempBuildMag publisher Jean Lotus.

Classes are offered with the support of the free online bulletin board resource of the Hemp Build Community.

“The Hemp Build Community is an interactive platform, which means the course material can grow with questions, input and documentation  from participants, who can help each other,” school founder Ray Kaderli told HempBuild Mag. “In addition, the online mastermind component helps participants succeed individually,” he added.

Three hours of short video lessons include best tips for budgeting and finance, materials selection, healthy air quality, design, permitting, hiring general contractors and subcontractors, clay and lime plasters and more. Additionally class participants ask questions and interact with instructors through the online community and in live twice-monthly online mastermind groups.

The Hemp Build School Mastermind - Pro is designed for people who want to develop skills or break into the hemp building industry as hempcrete insulation installers, natural home builders or commercial hemp developers. The $1,295 course includes 8+ hours of recorded material, plus the twice weekly live sessions with instructors.

The Pro course also includes 2-4 days of hands-on job site/workshop experience (travel costs not included).
